The main project of my residency at Inverewe Garden and Estate (September/October 2017) was the recording of the bark patterns of 47 different species of trees in the garden through rubbings on calico using sterilised soil from the garden. Because of the garden's situation on the Gulf Stream and the 'shelterbelt' of Scots Pines above it, there are trees from both northern and southern temperate zones grown here.
